Your Refuge
“The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” Psalm 9:9
Have you ever felt oppressed?
One of the most difficult sounds I know of is the sound of a newborn baby crying when you are feel helpless in bringing him or her comfort. Now that I am an older experienced mom I seem to have “the touch” at being able to calm a crying baby. But when I was first starting out I felt overwhelmed by my first borns unconsolable crying. She had colic and would cry from 7 to 10 every night. We were exhausted.
Knowing that the Lord Himself is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble helps you not become overcome by overwhelming feelings. Just the perspective that you are save in His arms of love causes a peace and a calm to come over you. In times of trouble, you are become the peace that calms the storm. Your trust in God anchors your soul.
Whatever difficulty you are experiencing, make God your refuge.
