The Way Maker

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” 1 Corinthians 10:13 New King James Version.

Have you ever felt like there was no way for you to overcome a trial in your life.

The truth of God’s word is that God Himself makes a way when there is no way. 1 Corinthians 10:13 promises that no temptation or trial to sin, no matter where it comes from, is able to overtake you. It is not beyond your human resistance.  You are able to bear everything that is in front of you.  God is the faithful One. He is faithful to His Word and to His compassionate nature.  You can trust Him to not let you be tempted beyond your ability to endure and overcome.  He is kind and gracious and He will make a way of escape for you when there seems to be no way.  He will help you be capable, strong, and powerful that you are able to overcome patiently.

So if you are facing a difficult trial – just look at your circumstance and say “there is a way to breakthrough!” Then stand in your faith believing that He who promised you is faithful!

The Power Of Promises

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13 New King James Version.

Do you find yourself tired, weary and in need of strength?

Not only is God able to strengthen you, He empowers you in His strength.  He makes you ready for anything and equal to anything because He is the One who infuses you with an inner strength that comes directly from Him.  You are able to be sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency.

So if you are feeling a bit insufficient in yourself, that’s good. You don’t want to be self-reliant or you will fail miserably. But if in your own lack you place your bold confidence in God He becomes all you need!  All anxiety, doubt, and even weariness flees as you clothe yourself with God’s strength. His strength is sufficient for each new day!

Strength In Song

“Surely, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid, The LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation” Isaiah 12:2.

Are you ever in situations that you find yourself fearful or worried.

Fear is a debilitating emotion. Fear will not only zap your strength it will cause a negative perspective that will keep you from truly trusting in God.

Would you rather meditate on your difficult situation OR to meditate on the greatness of your salvation? Trusting in God will put a song in your heart. Have you ever noticed if you begin to sing that sorrow flees away.  My grandma Beaula was about 4 ft 11 inches tall and not quite that wide. She raised 9 children in the midst of the poverty of the Great depression. But one of the things that her children remember about her is how she would sing when she worked. She seemed to sing even louder when it was a dreary rainy day.

Today, change your focus. Meditate on the greatness of God. Make the Lord Jesus Christ your strength and your song.

Renewed Strength

“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” Isaiah 40:31.

Have you every felt so weary you didn’t know how you were going to get through your day?

I was talking to a mom with two children who is pregnant with her third that is sooo tired…. She had forgotton how tired she felt when she was pregnant. I remember being so tired when I was pregnant that I turned the shower on then laid down on the floor to rest because I was too tired to crawl in the shower.

Isaiah 40:31 says “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah is talking about more than just being physically tired, he is talking about a weariness that comes on us when we are going through tough things. He also gives us a key to renewed strength: Hope… And not just any type of hope — but hope anchored in the Lord. This type of God-hope will so renew your strength that you can soar like an eagle and accomplish all that God has called you to.

Today, If you are weary, put your hope in God and soar in His strength.

Justice, Mercy, And Compassion

“This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another” Zechariah 7:9 NIV.

Whenever you have more than one child you will have your children wanting the same thing… Some time it is a toy that they are fighting over… Sometimes it is your time and attention that they want.

I remember each time we added a child, things got more intense. When Hannah was born, Rachel was 4 and Angela was 2. One day at lunch time all three of them were crying for me. I remember this overwhelming feeling that they literally outnumbered me and I did not even have enough hands to take care of all their needs at the same time.

Zechariah 7:9 is being spoken to the people of Israel on a national level, but you are able to apply the principles of this Scripture in the daily life of your home. With your children, administer justice, and show mercy and compassion to them. Teach them to not only love justice but to embrace mercy.

You have a powerful opportunity as a mom or dad to impact the next generation with the truth of God’s word.

Your Refuge

“The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” Psalm 9:9

Have you ever felt oppressed?

One of the most difficult sounds I know of is the sound of a newborn baby crying when you are feel helpless in bringing him or her comfort. Now that I am an older experienced mom I seem to have “the touch” at being able to calm a crying baby. But when I was first starting out I felt overwhelmed by my first borns unconsolable crying. She had colic and would cry from 7 to 10 every night. We were exhausted.

Knowing that the Lord Himself is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble helps you not become overcome by overwhelming feelings.  Just the perspective that you are save in His arms of love causes a peace and a calm to come over you. In times of trouble, you are become the peace that calms the storm. Your trust in God anchors your soul.

Whatever difficulty you are experiencing, make God your refuge.

The Beginning

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

Do you want a new beginning?

Proverbs 1:7 says “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.” If things are not going well in your day and life, you might try going back to the beginning.  If you begin your day by “Fearing God”… in other words reverencing God and submitting your day to Him. Asking Him to fill you afresh with His love.  To wash your mind and perspective with your Word….Then you will be set to walk in knowledge and wisdom that comes from God and not yourself.

I don’t know about you, but I need to get my mind and my perspective scrubbed every day.  Really, I first began to know my desperate need to be filled by God on a daily basis when I was a young mom with babies.  The intensity of being needed all the time by a baby or pulled on all day by a toddler caused me to seek harder after God.  No, I was not a natural at being a mom, I needed God to show me and help me with the intimate details of my life… Fearing Him… reverancing Him in my daily life.

Begin with God and you will walk in fresh wisdom and insight that causes you to impact the lives of others.

Overcomer

“That’s exactly what Jesus did. He didn’t make it easy for himself by avoiding people’s troubles, but waded right in and helped out. “I took on the troubles of the troubled,” is the way Scripture puts it. Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it’s written for us. God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next. May our dependably steady and warmly personal God develop maturity in you so that you get along with each other as well as Jesus gets along with us all. Then we’ll be a choir—not our voices only, but our very lives singing in harmony in a stunning anthem to the God and Father of our Master Jesus!” Romans 15:3-6 The Message.

Do you tend to avoid problems?

Jesus didn’t avoid problems. He took on the troubles of the troubled. He is steady and constant and calls us to be like Him.  He makes you and I mature through going through difficult things with us.  It is in the tests, that we get our testimonies.

You know, there is probably not a mom out there who has not felt the pressures of daily life. There have probably been moments when you felt like the worst mom in the world. You got angry and frustrated and acted out of that frustration. You slammed a door or you said an unkind word.  Okay, you made mistakes, right?

Well here’s the good news. Jesus Christ died for your sins and your sin nature. He cleanses you and then He makes you like Him.  He uses your imperfections to draw you to Himself.  So, stop fighting and turn desperately and completely to God.  He will help you overcome every problem and in the process He will make you into an overcomer.

Believe

“Answer this question: Does the God who lavishly provides you with his own presence, his Holy Spirit, working things in your lives you could never do for yourselves, does he do these things because of your strenuous moral striving or because you trust him to do them in you? Don’t these things happen among you just as they happened with Abraham? He believed God, and that act of belief was turned into a life that was right with God” Galatians 3:5-6 The Message.

Do you tend to strive?

I sometimes feel like I am the queen of strife. It is humbling to admit because really pride is the food of strife. If I have an overly exalted opinion of myself, I think that I can make things happen.

But the word of God is clear in Galatians 3:5-6 that God is the One who provides us with His own presence. It is His Holy Spirit working in us and not ourselves.  You and I need to be more like Abraham. He knew his body was as good as dead and it was impossible for him and Sarah to have children. But he believed God and that act of belief itself made Him right with God. You know, it is impossible to please God without faith. Faith is what moves us into the miraculous.

So, whatever you need, believe God to receive from Him.

Enjoy The Journey

“Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good” Romans 8:26-28 The Message.

Do you get tired of waiting?

It’s in these desperate moments when we cry out to God that His Spirit groans through us when we don’t know what to pray or what to to do. The Holy Spirit is praying in and for us. He knows us better than we know ourselves. We can trust Him to work good in each and every detail that we surrender to Him.

So take a deep breath, let out a sigh, let go of any negative emotion and focus on God.  He sees the big picture. If you have been waiting, He knows how to make you enjoy the journey.  Have you ever taken a road trip as a family and there is always at least one person in the car that has their own pace. In our family, it is my husband. He does not want to be hurried on vacation. We don’t have to focus on getting there…. we just need to trust that we are moving ahead and it is going to be good.

How much more with God. He never disappoints. As you wait on God, trust Him to work things for good as you come into agreement with His will.
